Choosing the right system
For openings over 3 m wide, choose a top-hung folding system or a 3-track slider so the panels stay light enough to operate by hand. For coastal or Gulf projects, specify anodised or marine-grade powder coat and EPDM gaskets. Where the door sits in a fire compartment wall, only a tested fire-rated glazed doorset is acceptable under NBCS 2026.

Which glass should I use?
Use 5–6 mm toughened glass for standard sliders, 24 mm double-glazed units where sound or heat insulation matters, and fire-rated glass only in fire compartments.
Can sliding doors be fire rated?
Standard aluminium sliders are not fire rated. Fire-rated glazed doors are hinged or pivoted steel or timber doorsets with fire-rated glass, supplied from the Wedge fire door line.
